Surprise at Cherrelyn
This school year, ZAG Project has been visiting the 5th graders at Cherrelyn Elementary once a month to teach them how to surprise themselves and others. This month was our seventh session and we decided to kick things up a notch.
After coordinating/collaborating with the staff at Cherrelyn, we arranged for the 5th graders to do a surprise big buddy takeover. Half of them went to the gymnasium to surprise the second graders and help them invent new games and the other half went to the art room to surprise the kindergartners and paint a huge poster for their school.
The result was a whirlwind of organized chaos. Everyone had a blast (especially us) and it was amazing to see the 5th graders jump right into their big buddy roles and set a good example for their little buddies.
“It was nice seeing the students collaborating with so much joy and enthusiasm. We look forward to seeing you for our next session!” – Shannon Khoury, 5th grade teacher
